Alberta Jones Holland

Alberta Ramsey Holland, 94 of Seneca, passed away Monday June 14, at Peachtree Healthcare Center in Gaffney.

She was a lifelong native of Seneca and Oconee County. She had been a resident of Seneca Rehabilitation and Assisted Living and recently moved to Peachtree Center of Gaffney.

She is the mother of Lucious E. Jones of Gaffney.

Mrs. Alberta Holland Jones was born in Fair Play in Oconee County, on October 25, 1915. She departed this life in Gaffney, South Carolina at the Peachtree Healthcare Center on Monday June 14, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late Purvius Holland and Alice Ramsey Holland of Oconee County, South Carolina. She joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful as long as her health permitted.

She was married to John Jones of Seneca and to this union three children were born. She leaves fond and loving memories to: her youngest son, Lucious and wife Mary Knuckles Jones of Gaffney; two granddaughters; Mrs. Hyacinth Jones Phillips and husband Al, great granddaughter, Skyla Grace Phillips, and step great granddaughter, Jaila Phillips, all of Gaffney; and Ms. Sommer Rhyne Jones of Rock Hill. She also leaves her daughter, Ms. Jonnie Lee Jones of Spartanburg and Seneca, and oldest son, retired Sgt. Billy Jones and wife Ursula of Colorado Springs, Colo., and their daughters (two granddaughters), Ms. Sandra Jones and Ms. Darlene Harden, both of Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral Services will be held in Seneca at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Adams Mortuary, 500 East South First Street, Seneca, SC 29678.

The family locally is at the home of Lucious E. Jones, 185 Shady Grove Rd., Gaffney.
