TARVER TARVER Apparently leadership remains a quality sought by employers no matter the size of the operation.

Making quite an impression during his seven years with The Robert Allen Group, Greg Tarver’s hard work was rewarded a few weeks ago, being promoted to become the organization’s president and chief operating officer (COO). He previously served as the group’s executive vice president of operations and general manager of commercial businesses.

Tarver replaces Jeff Cordover, who became The Robert Allen Group’s chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) on June 10.

“This realignment of our senior management team will allow us to focus more fully on strategic issues for the company,” Cordover said. “We believe that Greg’s understanding of our operations and different customer bases will foster even closer cooperative effort across the organization.”

The Robert Allen Group is a designer and marketer of decorative fabrics and furnishings, with showrooms throughout the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom. Among the brands under the company’s umbrella are Beacon Hill, Robert Allen Contract and Robert Allen @ Home.

Tarver, who currently calls Gaffney home, has spent more than 20 years in the development, production, distribution and merchandising of home textiles.

Arriving at The Robert Allen Group in 2003, he was named the corporation’s executive vice president of manufacturing and operations three years after being hired. He would add the title as the group’s general manager of commercial businesses in 2008.

According to Cordover, the company is always looking for ways to make itself more appealing to consumers in an ever-changing market. In the eyes of The Robert Allen Group CEO, Tarver has shown the tools necessary to keep it competitive through a number of tools — particularly leadership.

“When (Tarver) began with us, he was already pretty highly placed in the company,” Cordover said. “His leadership, hard work and knowledge of our brand impressed us, and has continued to be the case to this day.

“Willing to take on any task, he is quite the asset to what we do here.”

Though Gaffney will remain where the majority of his work will be done, Tarver will remain on the road on a regular basis, with travel being a required part of the job.

“Travel is something he’s done during much of his time with us,” Cordover said. “He will continue to be asked to make trips from the Gaffney location to our stations in Foxboro (Mass.) and New York.”
