Mrs. Evelyn Stepp Blanton, 79, of Gaffney, passed away on June 19, 2010, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

The wife of the late Charles I. Blanton, she was born in Gaffney, the daughter of the late Lillian DeStaffino Stepp Bright.

She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne Martin and husband Tommy of Gaffney; three sons, Philip Blanton and wife Kim of Duncan, Butch Blanton and wife Becky, and Tim Blanton and wife Dora, both of Gaffney; one brother, Tommy “Squeaky” Stepp of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, Phillip Ruppe of San Diego, Ca., Amber Blanton of Duncan, Tiffany Eubanks and husband Jeff of Spartanburg, Brandy Hamrick and husband Adam, Angela Martin and husband Robert, Charles Issac Blanton and wife Christa, Jon Martin and wife Sherry, Josh Martin, and Timothy Shannon Blanton, all of Gaffney; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Roger Hamm.

Visitation for Mrs. Blanton will follow the service at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to the Cherokee County Children’s Home, 215 Allison Drive, Gaffney, S.C.

The family has entrusted the care of Mrs. Blanton to the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney.
