House damaged by fire
Fire vents through the roof of this home on Starr Ridge Road in the Corinth community. The blaze erupted late Sunday.
A fire that caused extensive damage to a Starr Ridge Road home late Sunday was traced back to a television.
Fire broke out at about 10:40 p.m. at the home of Steve and Christy Poole in a second-floor room above the home’s garage, according to Corinth Volunteer Fire Department Chief Doug Bowers. The fire then spread to the attic and burned through the roof.
Bowers described the damage as extensive, noting that the second floor sustained heat and smoke damage while the first floor sustained water damage.
An investigation revealed the fire began in the area of a television on the second floor, Bowers said, possibly as a result of an electrical short.
Bowers said the Cherokee County chapter of the American Red Cross was notified to assist the Pooles and their children. All of of the children’s bedrooms were on the second floor, he said.
No injuries were reported.
