Jennifer Lauren Spearman and Michael Ryan Swanner Mr. and Mrs. R. Daniel Spearman of Lexington announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Lauren, to Michael Ryan Swanner, both of Columbia.

Miss Spearman is the granddaughter of Florence and Joe Dean Spencer of Gaffney, Jean Spearman of Chesnee, the late Jack L. Blackwood, the late Juanita Spearman Crocker and the late Frosty Spearman. A graduate of Midlands Technical College with an Associate of Arts degree, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management at Limestone College and is employed by the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Mr. Swanner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Swanner of Hilton Head Island. His grandparents are Christine Marlowe of Hixson, Tenn., Berl and Eula Swanner of Rockwood, Tenn., and the late John Marlowe. A graduate of Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, he is employed by Progressive Insurance Company in Columbia.

The couple was honored with an engagement party hosted by the bride-elect’s aunts and uncle, Mary Starnes and Martha and Jerry Shaw of Gaffney.

A September 4 wedding is planned at Lake Eden in Black Mountain, N.C.
