Jimmie Eugene Childers, 68, of 600 N. Limestone St., Apt. 1055, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Spartanburg Restorative Care surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Robert and Olive Childers of Gaffney. Jimmie was retired from Celanese in Earl, N.C., and was a sergeant with the South Carolina National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a brother, Charles E. Childers Sr. of Gaffney; two nephews, Eddie Childers and wife, Suzanne, and Michael Childers and wife, Teresa, both of Gaffney; two great-nieces and two great-nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 26, from 12-1 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
