A thief or thieves targeted an air conditioner at a Battleground Road church.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a green-colored Carrier air conditioner was stolen from Island Creek Baptist Church between 8:30 p.m. June 24 and 10 a.m. June 25.
The air conditioning unit is valued at $6,000.
Two people were injured early June 27 when they were attacked by a pit bull on Chestnut Ridge Road, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Both victims of the dog attack were visiting a home in the 400 block at about 3 a.m. to retrieve a vehicle when a brown pit bull-mix dog attacked them, according to a report.
One of the victims was bitten on the legs while the second was bitten on the legs and forearms.
Police did not indicate in the report how badly the two victims were injured.
The responding deputy notified Cherokee County Animal Control.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the burglary of a Garvin Lake Road business.
Between 6:30 p.m. June 24 and 7 a.m. June 25, someone forced entry to Precision Heating and Air, causing about $250 in damage.
Nothing was reported missing from the interior of the business.
An air conditioning unit was reported stolen from a Nicky Lane, Blacksburg, home.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said the air conditioning unit was taken from the back bedroom window of a home in the 100 block between 8 a.m. June 6 and 7 p.m. June 26.
The unit is valued at $200.
A video game system was stolen during a June 25 burglary on Lockhart Lane.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone crawled through a window to gain entry to a home in the 200 block between 8:20 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.
A Wii video game system valued at $200 was the only thing reported missing.
About $1,200 in vandalism damage was reported on Saxon Drive.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone threw red paint on a 1973 Ford truck parked in the 100 block between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. June 24.
A lawn mower was reported stolen on Beech Street.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone took a 20-inch Weedeaterbrand push mower from a property in the 2100 block between 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. June 24.
The mower is valued at $150.
A moped was reported stolen on 7th Street.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported a silver and black Peace Sport 50 cc moped was taken from the back yard of a home in the 200 block between 11 p.m. June 23 and 10 a.m. June 24.
The moped was missing its front fender and had duct tape on one of the headlights.
It is valued at $500.
A car was reported stolen on Hyatt Street on June 18.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office someone took a dark green 2001 Ford Crown Victoria from a property in the 200 block between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The vehicle is valued at $4,000.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the theft of a lawn mower on 15th Street.
According to a report, someone took a Weedeater-brand mower from a property in the 100 block between 10 a.m. June 19 and 3 p.m. June 21.
The mower is green in color and has a 4.75 horsepower engine.
An air conditioning unit was stolen from a home on East Junior High Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, an unknown brand window unit was taken from a home in the 500 block between 6 a.m. June 18 and 6 a.m. June 21.
It is valued at $400.
Nearly $1,000 in yard tools was reported stolen from a Granite Drive property.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone entered a carport in the 300 block between 3 p.m. June 20 and 4 p.m. June 21 and took a weed trimmer, a gas-powered leaf blower, an electric leaf blower, a push mower and hedge clippers.
All of the stolen items were Craftsman-brand.
