4th of July events
Hopewell Baptist Church, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, will have its annual July 4th celebration Saturday July 3, from 7-9:30 p.m. (rain make-up date Saturday, July 10). Free hot dogs will be served as long as they last from 7-8 p.m. and a blow-up bounce house will be available for kids. Games include ring toss, tic tac toss, lollipop tree, fishing, lucky duck, corn hole, basketball shot, and football toss with prizes. A gospel singing will be held from 7-9 p.m. with fireworks set to end the festivities at 9 p.m. Everything is free.
Barbecues
Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will be selling barbecue and hash on Saturday, July 3, at the main and sub-station, starting at 8 a.m. and continuing until sold out. Pints of barbecue and hash are $7 with a special of three pints for $20. The main station is located at 137 Blackwell Road (839- 4500) and the sub-station is at 1136 N. Mountain St. 839-4551.
Fund raiser
New Harvest Church of God will operate a fireworks stand selling TNT Fireworks as a fund raiser at Wal-Mart in Gaffney from June 28-July 4. Fireworks that are legal in South Carolina will be sold and several buy one, get one free items will be offered. Funds raised will go to church organizations
Support groups
The "Supporting Each Other Military Style" support group for military families will meet Tuesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. Guest speaker will be Dr. Craig Burnette of Spartanburg, who will talk about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Bible school
Vacaton Bible School will be held June 28-30 from 6-8 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Classes will be provided for all ages.
