BIKING FOR DOLLARS

BIKING FOR DOLLARS — More than 200 bikers made their way into Cherokee County on Saturday for a good cause — helping to raise funds for area cancer patients. The inaugural motorcycle ride for the Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties began at the Pinewood Shopping Center in Spartanburg. Glaydeane Lee, executive director of the Cancer Association, said she was “overwhelmed” by the turnout and the generosity of the bikers. “We're definitely doing this again,” she said. The Cancer Association hoped to raise at least $10,000 for the ride. The money is used to help cancer patients in many different ways, including the purchase of wigs and prosthesis.
