Myra Lee Gaffney Smith, 72, of 826 S. Johnson St., died Friday, June 25, 2010, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Widow of Alfonso Smith, she was born in Cherokee County, the daughter of the late Berkley George Gaffney Sr. and Sarah Lee Joseph Gaffney. She was a 1955 graduate of Granard High School and attended Benedict College and Morris College.

Myra was a member of Limestone Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Missionaries and choir.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Berkley G. Gaffney Jr. and Eufrater Gaffney (Ruth).

She is survived by a sister, Margie Heyward (Johnny) of Charleston and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, July 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael A. Golden officiating. Interment will be in Gaffney Memorial Park. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
