Rotary Club installs new officers

The Gaffney Rotary Club held its weekly meeting June 29 and installed officers for the new year that began July 1.
Outgoing president Dean Painter passed the gavel to new president Dr. Jeff Cleland.
Cameron Hamrick was named president elect; Theresa Cobb, secretary; Karen Spigner, assistant secretary; and Mike Nicolini, treasurer.
Board members for the new year are Cobb, Nicolini, Spigner, Cameron Hamrick, Vance Hammond, Murl Lehman, Debbie Mauney, Kendrick Meekins, Gene Moorhead, Dr. J.W. Sanders Jr., Christa Smith and Ron Singleton.
Perfect attendance certificates were awarded to Sissy Brock, Murl Lehman and Wylie Hamrick for 51 years, Lyman Hamrick for 31 years and Vic Sarratt for 25 years.
Rotary International was the first service club in the USA and now has more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs in 200 countries. Rotary International is dedicated to the eradication of polio and aid to developing countries.
Local Rotary clubs assist their communities with aid to nonprofit organizations and college scholarships to deserving students.
The motto of Rotary is “Service Above Self.”
The Gaffney Rotary Club meets each Tuesday at noon in Limestone College’s Stephenson Dining Hall. Each week a diverse program is presented concerning the local community, state, nation or world.
