Curtis Wade Rufty, 81, of 705 9th St., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum. Mr. Rufty formerly resided in Beaufort for 30 years.
Born in Danville, Va., he was the husband of Glenda Gaffney Rufty and son of the late Wade Rufty and Edna Woodruff Rufty. He was selfemployed
real estate business
and was a Mason and Shriner. Mr. Rufty was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Phillip Rufty and wife, Cathy, of Beaufort, Ron Rufty of Beaufort and Chris Watring and wife, Christine, of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Diane Neal of Spartanburg and Libby Locke and husband, James, of Beaufort; seven grandchildren, Cameron Locke, Anthony Locke, Jason Clements, Jennifer Clements, April Watring, Katherine Watring and Emily Rufty; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Rufty.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 3, from 1-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al McKinney officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg at a later date.
