Edgar Jones Moss, 93, of Pleasant Meadows Drive, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Brookview Healthcare Center.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the husband of Margaret Baumgardner Moss with whom he had just celebrated their 75th anniversary. He was the son of the late Charlie Jones Moss and the late Cleo Byars Moss.

Mr. Moss was

a World War II

veteran and was formerly employed by Martin’s Grocery, Middlebrook's Shoe Store and Hamrick’s Inc. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and a life deacon of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jim Moss and wife, Gail, of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Pike Moss and wife, Debby, of Columbia, April Morrow and husband, Bobby, of Charlotte, N.C., and Brice Moss and wife, Michelle, of Gaffney; seven greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat grandchild; and three sisters, Cleo Vaughn, Thelma Westmoreland, both of Gaffney, and Lucille Feemester of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Moss, and a sister, Ruby Knight.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, from 3-4 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Clyde Thomas and the Rev. Bobby Morrow III officiating. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Jim and Gail Moss, 214 Crestview Drive.
