Summer Reading Program will show movie Thursday
The Cherokee County Public Library has announced more Summer Reading events.
On Thursday, July 8, at 2:30 p.m., summer reading members and their families are invited to attend movie matinees at either the Gaffney or Blacksburg library. Refreshments will be served. Call the libraries to find out more about the movies being shown.
Teens are invited to come to the Blacksburg or Gaffney library and express themselves using computers. Ages 12-18 can call the Blacksburg or Gaffney library or go by and register for a computer craft using the computer program Wordle. These programs will be on Monday, July 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg library and Wednesday, July 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Gaffney library.
Wordle is a computer tool that looks at the text (words) teens provide and generates a "word cloud" summary from those words. Fonts, layouts and color scheme can be changed. Once the "word cloud" has been created, it will be printed and then framed.
For more information about these events and other Summer Reading activities, call the Gaffney Library at 487-2711 or the Blacksburg Library at 839-2630.
