Bear Creek Water Project soon to begin

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

Public water soon will be coming to another Cherokee Falls community.

County officials announced this past week that a contractor has been selected and that work should begin within the next several weeks on the Bear Creek Water Project.

As is typical in water projects, the Appalachian Council of Governments will administer the grant money and the Gaffney Board of Public Works will manage the project.

Those residents selected to receive public water are urged to contact the utility to sign up for the water service.

Households classified as low- to moderate income in a past income survey will receive water taps at no cost, BPW General Manager Donnie Hardin said.

The project will provide public water to about 100 residents who live on Bear Creek Road.
