 The Gaffney Police Department cited a 29- year-old man for indecent exposure or dress after he allegedly went for a swim in a motel swimming pool with no clothes on.

According to an incident report, police were dispatched to the Homestead Lodge on Peachoid Road at 2:12 p.m. July 7 on a complaint that an intoxicated man was swimming naked in the motel swimming pool.

When police arrived, they found the man in the pool wearing underwear briefs, the report states.

Bystanders told police the man had just put on the underwear.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning break-in at the Cherokee Technology Center.

According to a police report, an officer was dispatched to the school at 3206 Cherokee Ave. at 12:17 a.m. July 8.

After a school official with a key arrived on scene, police made entry and discovered that someone had broken two windows on a shop within the school to gain entry.

It was unclear at the time of the report if anything was taken. Damage was estimated at $100.

Administrators at the Cherokee County School District could not be reached for immediate comment on July 8 about the incident.

 An estimated $3,775 in theft losses and damage were reported following the discovery of a burglarized business on West Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone forced entry to a business in the 200 block between July 2 and July 6 and took a Dell desktop computer and monitor, a Dell Inspiron laptop computer and $500 in cash.

Police said several desk drawers were rummaged through and that the thief or thieves left cigarette ashes on one desk.

 A car sustained about $300 in vandalism damage while parked outside a church on Serene Drive.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, a 2002 Honda parked at Antioch Church between July 1 and July 5 was scratched on all sides by an unknown vandal.

 A vandal tossed a rock at a Cherokee Avenue home.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, the rock broke the plexiglass of the front door of a home in the 400 block between 10:30 a.m. July 5 and 7:30 a.m. July 6.

There was no immediate cost estimate on the damage.

 The Gaffney Police Department is on the lookout for a moped that was stolen from the 300 block of West 3rd Street on July 6.

An orange and white moped with the word VIP written on the side was taken from a driveway between 10:55 p.m. and 11 p.m. July 6.

The moped has several visible scratches and is missing a rear basket.

 A thief cut a lock to steal a lawn mower from a carport on 9th Street, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The theft occurred between 9 p.m. July 5 and 8 a.m. July 6 in the 700 block. Police said the green-colored Weedeater lawn mower had a 3.5 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine and is valued at $200.

 The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported several cases of vandalism on Thornbird Lane in Cowpens.

According to one report, someone slashed a total of seven tires on two cars parked outside a home in the 100 block between 12:30 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. July 6.

Damage is estimated at $600.

In a second report, four tires on a car parked at another home in the 100 block were punctured between 11 p.m. July 5 and 8 a.m. July 6.

Damage in this case is estimated at $500.

 An 18-year-old Rigo Lane, Blacksburg, man was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on July 7 on charges stemming from the alleged assault of a 15-year-old boy.

Gustavo Vicueth, of Rigo Lane, was booked on charges of assault and battery and burglary according to jail records.

Deputies were dispatched to a Rigo Lane home at about 1:45 p.m. July 7 and they noted in a police report the 15- year-old victim had a cut on his head and welts on his body.

Police said they were told Vicueth had assaulted the 15-year-old with a baseball bat after forcing entry to the boy’s residence.

The boy was transported to Upstate Carolina Medical Center by paramedics, according to the report.

 The Gaffney Police Department served an arrest warrant July 7 against a West Floyd Baker Boulevard man in connection with a May 16 stabbing on Settlemeyer Street.

According to a previously released incident report, a 44-year-old Union Highway resident was on Settlemeyer Street at about 2:30 a.m. when another man called him over to his vehicle and then stabbed him in the stomach.

The victim later told an emergency room nurse that he cut himself on a weight bench.

In an arrest warrant signed May 19 by a Gaffney Municipal Court judge, police charged William James Gist, 41, with assault and battery with intent to kill.

The case was investigated by Det. Brian Blanton.

 A thief or thieves smashed a vehicle window on South Granard Street on July 7 to steal a purse.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, the breakin of the 2006 GMC occurred in the 700 block between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Theft and damage losses are estimated at $280.

 A vehicle parked in the 900 block of North Limestone Street was vandalized July 7.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone busted out the front passenger side window of a 2009 Honda van as it was parked between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

 A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Beltline Road was vandalized.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone busted out the rear window of a 1995 Ford and scratched the vehicle’s paint between 6 p.m. July 6 and 11 a.m. July 7.

Damage is estimated at $400.
