 More than $8,500 in copper wire and power tools were reported stolen following the burglary of an Allison Road business.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone cut the lock on a gate to gain entry to Old Castle/Adams Products in the 100 block between June 24 and July 8. Once inside, the thief or thieves stole 10 large spools of copper wire and assorted power tools.

 A thief or thieves tried to break into a New Pleasant Road church property recently.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the burglar( s) caused about $100 in door frame damage trying to break into the family life center at New Pleasant Baptist Church between July 1 and July 7.

No entry was reported.

 A break-in on Kraft Road resulted in the theft of a television and an air conditioning unit.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to a home in the 200 block between June 1 and July 7 and took a 19-inch Emerson television and a 5,000-b.t.u. air conditioning unit from a window.

Theft losses are estimated at $500.

 The Gaffney Police Department served an arrest warrant July 8 charging a Taylors man with a third or subsequent offense of property crimes in connection with a June shoplifting incident at Wal-Mart.

In the warrant, Ronald Scott Fowler, 37, of East Main Street, Taylors, is accused of taking or carrying away merchandise belonging to Wal-Mart with the intent to permanently deprive the store of the merchandise.

According to a previously released incident report, a Wal-Mart official alleged an unknown man and woman came into the store on June 11, broke into a display case and took about 15 to 20 fishing reels, which, according to the report, were concealed in the woman’s purse.

The fishing reels are valued at about $400.

Det. Brian Blanton filed the warrant against Fowler.
