PACOLET – Jack Kenneth Childers, 71, of 174 Mathis Road, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his residence.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the loving husband of Peggy Clayton Childers for 27 years and son of the late Boyd Irvin Childers and Ethel Henderson Childers. Mr. Childers was retired from Benson Nissan and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Darren Childers and Ricky Childers, both of Cowpens; three daughters, Renee Wright of Gaffney, Vicki Elliott of Gaffney and Donna Woody of Chesnee; a brother, Boyd Childers and wife, Jackie, of Richland; a sister, Fay Irwin of Converse; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece, Nikki Trusty.

Mr. Childers was preceded in death by two half brothers, Gene Childers and Wilson Childers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lutheran Hospice and a special caregiver, Patricia Reynolds.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 12, from 10-11 a.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Travis Blackwell officiating.
