SCHP charges tractor operator with felony DUI
A Cowpens man was charged with felony driving under the influence following the July 10 wreck of a tractor on Crenshaw Road.
According to Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Marshall Dwayne Harris, 41, was driving a tractor that was traveling on Crenshaw Road when the vehicle went off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.
A passenger, 49-year-old Eddie Sellers, of Converse, was ejected from the tractor and was taken to Upstate Carolina Medical Center for treatment, McDougald said.
According to the Cherokee County Detention Center, Harris remained jailed as of Tuesday afternoon. His bond was set at $15,000, according to the jail’s Web site.
A separate report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office alleges the 2005 Mahindra tractor was taken without permission before the wreck. The tractor was valued at $15,000 and damage from the wreck was estimated at $6,000.
No charges have been reported by the sheriff’s office.
