Rhythm and beach band set to play at ‘Shindig’ Friday in downtown Gaffney
The 2010 run of the successful “Shindig at the Gaffney Cabin” Free Concert Series will continue on Friday, July 23. This concert will feature a “first” for the city-sponsored concert series…a direct descendent of Michael Gaffney will take the stage at the Gaffney Cabin.
The Dynamic Breakers, a rhythm & beach band that originally formed in Spartanburg in 1984, toured much of the Southeast for 16 years.
It was also during those 16 years that the band experienced several changes in their lineup, and eventually a breakup on December 31, 1999. Years later, in late 2005, the band performed a “onetime” reunion gig in Spartanburg. That reunion ignited a desire to play again and reform The Dynamic Breakers. Russ Gaffney, the trumpet player, is part of that horn section. Russ is also the great-great-great grandson of Michael Gaffney.
The concert will be held at the Michael Gaffney Cabin located at 214 North Limestone Street in Downtown Gaffney. Bring your lawn chair, a blanket, and your dancin’ shoes…most of all, bring the whole family! The “Shindig at the Gaffney Cabin” Free Concert Series is fun for all ages.
