Rising sixth graders are invited to “Take a Look at Gaffney Middle” on Tuesday, August 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parents are asked to drop their children off at Gaffney Middle.

Sixth grade staff will give students a tour of the school, run a mock schedule, and go over student lockers.

Gaffney Middle seventh and eighth graders can pick up schedules Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sixth grade orientation will be held Aug. 12 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Driving and Riding permits for Cherokee Technology Center will be made at Cherokee Technology Center for the 2010-11 school year beginning on August 2, 2010. A student must have a driving/riding permit to drive or ride in a private vehicle between Gaffney High School or Blacksburg High School and Cherokee Technology Center. These permits are good for one (1) year and must be made annually.

Students can have permits signed for and ID’s made between 8:30 - 3:30 each day beginning August 2, 2010. ID’s cannot be made unless a parent comes with the student or before the student comes in.

Parents take note: A student must have the permit in advance to drive or ride in a private vehicle between schools. The cost is $5 before school starts and $6 after school begins.

Please bring your class schedule with you.

Twelfth grade and eleventh grade homeroom students may ride or drive in private vehicles once parents have come in to sign permission forms. Tenth grade homeroom students may ride only after parents have come in to sign permission forms, and ninth grade students must ride the bus.

Schedule Pick-Up and Registration for Blacksburg High School will take place:

August 10 — sophomores, juniors and seniors can pick up schedules from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

August 12 — 9th grade orientation

BHS auditorium from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

All students need to be prepared to pay $20 activity fee at schedule pick-up or during the first three days of school.

Parking permits may be purchased at schedule pick-up. Only those students who have completed the “Alive at 25” program will be able to purchase a parking permit.

Ewing Middle School will hold its Back-to- School orientation on August 12 at the following times:

Sixth Grade — 5:30 p.m. Seventh Grade — 6:30 p.m.

Eighth Grade — 7:30 p.m.

Instructional Fee ($10) will be collected during orientation.

Supply list — 3-ring binders, Notebook paper, Pencils, Colored pencils. Teachers will let you know if there are any specific items other than these.
