Frances Culbreth
COWPENS – Frances Missouri Scruggs Culbreth, 86, of 2010 Wagner Culbreth Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at her residence.
Born in Cherokee County, she was the widow of Lee Olin Culbreth and daughter of the late John Brackett Scruggs and Viola Williams Scruggs. Mrs. Culbreth was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Cowpens.
Surviving are three sons, William Boyd Culbreth and wife, Evelyn, Paul Dean Culbreth and wife, Sheila, and Keith Culbreth, all of Cowpens; four daughters, Alice Faye Fritts and husband, Jim, of Bluff City, Tenn., Doris Miller of Spartanburg, Angie Price and husband, Patton, of Cowpens and Lois “Susie” Wagner and husband, Dwain, of Cowpens; two brothers, Harry Scruggs and J.B. Scruggs, both of Gaffney; a sister, Margaret Melton of Gaffney; 19 grandchildren; 39 greatgrandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Culbreth; three brothers, Logan Scruggs, Furman Scruggs and Ozzie Scruggs; and two sisters, Roxie Clary and Lois Scruggs.
Services will be held Friday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Griffith and Dr. Gary W. Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in New Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Gaffney.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home in Gaffney.
