McCoy Westbrooks
CHESNEE – McCoy Westbrooks, 87, of 233 Martin Farm Road, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Mr. Westbrooks was born in Cherokee County and was the son of the late Carlisle Simpson Westbrooks and the late Lala Bagwell Westbrooks. He retired from Cherokee County as a heavy equipment operator in road maintenance. A beloved father of 10, he was a member of the Police Auxiliary and a founding member of Crestview Baptist Church in Gaffney.
Surviving are six daughters, Doris Henderson of Chesnee, Faye Seay of Inman, Barbara Hawkins, Joyce Taylor, both of Gaffney, Gail Morrow of Spartanburg and Lynne Chavis of Campobello; three sons, William Simpson Westbrooks of Pacolet, Joe D. Westbrooks of Boiling Springs and David Westbrooks of Gaffney; two sisters, Millie Richards and Jeanette Sparks, both of Gaffney; a brother, Jimmy D. Westbrooks of Cowpens; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Westbrooks was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Sentell Westbrooks; a son, Gene Westbrooks; two sisters and several brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church, 153 Daniel Morgan School Road, Gaffney, conducted by the Rev. Rick Taylor, the Rev. Bob Finley, the Rev. Huford Cash, and family members. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, July 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church.
The family is at 242 Smith Wall Road, Chesnee, and 806 Potter Road, Gaffney.
