Upsets dominate in hoop league finals

Upsets were the norm, not the exception as the Cherokee County Youth Basketball League ended its season this week.

In the Division I title game, Quinshad Davis scored 18 points to lead the Clippers over the favored Bucks, 60-48. Dershawn Dawkins had 16 points for the losers.

In another upset, Eric Williams scored 10 points as Times Up beat the previously unbeaten Bulldogs, 21-18.

Big Daddy Ellis had 10 points as Freightliner topped Bethel Baptist, 39- 36 to win the Division II championship, while Ladarius Jefferies had 14 points in Classic Cuts’ 18- 8 win over the Indians in the Division IV title game.

In the semifinals, the Clippers beat Dreamchasers and the Bucks topped Carolina Express in Division I action, while Bethel Baptist and Freightliner earned victories in the Division II seminfals.
