Peak, who helped the Indians to the 2009 state championship, averaged 25 points and five rebounds in leading the Forest Heat to a sixth-place finish in the national age 14 and under AAU tournament in Orlando, Fla.

More than 100 teams from throughout the nation competed in the week-long event.

Gaffney junior varsity coach Phillip McHam was on hand to watch the 6-foot-5 Peak.

“He’s playing wing on this team and that should help him learn how to handle the ball,” McHam said. “Overall, his game has improved and the tournament gives him a chance to compete against the best players in the country.”

McHam said Peak has already caught the eye of coaches from South Carolina as well as basketball powers Texas and Villanova.
