ER department director at UCMC named secretary/treasurer of ENA
Jason Moretz
Jason Moretz, RN, BSN, CEN, CTRN, nurse manager of the emergency department at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, was recently elected secretary/ treasurer of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), a non-profit professional organization representing more than 37,000 members internationally. He begins his term Jan. 1, 2011.
Moretz has worked as an emergency or critical care transport nurse for his entire nursing career, beginning in 2002. He first joined ENA as a student member in 2001 and has since served in numerous local, state and national positions with the association, including North Carolina ENA president and secretary, and president of the Metrolina Chapter.
“We are very fortunate to work alongside Jason,” said Courtney Kaylor, chief nursing officer at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. “He is an accomplished professional who demonstrates remarkable leadership and clinical ability that has resulted in significant and sustained improvements in emergency department operations at Upstate Carolina. We are very proud of his accomplishments and election to the secretary/treasurer office of such a prestigious national organization.”
Moretz has worked in a variety of nursing positions, most recently as critical care transport clinical nurse at Presbyterian Hospital. He has been with Upstate Carolina for almost two years. He holds a B.S. degree in nursing from Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C., and an associate degree in nursing from Caldwell Community College, Hudson, N.C.
Moretz has also served on several national committees with ENA, including the Resolutions Committee, the State Council Compliance Work-group and the Web Communications Workgroup.
“I am honored and privileged to have been elected by my peers,” said Moretz. “I am very excited to be able to serve over 37,000 emergency nurses across the United States in this capacity.”
