 Tickets for tonight's Lynx Wrestling Alliance show featuring the Rock- N-Roll Express benefitting the local Boys & Girls Club are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. All tickets must be purchased at the Boys & Girls Club, rather than advance tickets being available prior to the event as published in Wednesday's edition of The Gaffney Ledger. The show will take place at the Boys & Girls Club on Pecan Street, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m.

Fund raiser

 The Blacksburg Rotary Club is serving barbecue Saturday, July 31 at two locations: in Blacksburg at the Old Red Barn (previously Blacksburg Hardware), 210 E. Cherokee St., and in Gaffney at the Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave. Serving starts at 11 a.m. at both locations. Cost for barbecue and all the trimmings is $7. Proceeds will support the Senior Centers of Cherokee County.

 The Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., will have a yard sale Saturday, July 31, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

 Central Baptist Church, 500 E. Montgomery St., will have an indoor rummage sale in its Family Life Center on Saturday, July 31, from 7- 10 a.m. There will be new and used items, including clothing, purses, jewelry, household items, etc. Proceeds benefit the church's Virginia mission trip.  White Plains Baptist Church’s annual revival services will be Aug. 1-4. Sunday services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Kerwin Wray, pastor of Knuckles Chapel Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

 The Word Church, whose pastor is Larry Oglesby, meets each Sunday at 11 a.m. in the conference room at Holiday Inn Express, Exit 78/I-85, 221 Spartanburg-Chesnee Hwy. For more information, call 864-435-4883 or 864-489-9512.

 There will be a revival at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St., Aug. 2-7. Services are at 7 p.m.

 Dunton United Methodist Church will have its annual Mad Hatters Tea on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 3-5 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. Lillie Davis, church pastor. The hat contest is themed "Patriotism" and those attending are invited to wear a favorite patriotic hat. Prizes will be awarded. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

 Revival services will be held at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1809 Old Post Road, beginning with homecoming services Aug. 1 at 2:30 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. Michael Golden, pastor of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church. Services will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 2-5. Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Rodney James, pastor of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Bishopville

Reunion

 The Whelchel family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 1, in the recreational building on Whelchel Road. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Plates, cups, utensils and ice will be furnished. Everyone invited to come bring a well-filled basket.

 The Cherokee County NAACP Branch will present a "Meet the Candidates" forum Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. at Dunton United Methodist Church. Candidates for the Cherokee County School Board, Gaffney City Council, Board of Public Works and other offices in the Aug. 10 election are invited to present their platforms.
