Blood drive Tuesday

The recent blood drive on July 1 in honor of Marion Patton was a big success. Seventy-three units of lifesaving blood was collected with a waiting list of 69 more people that wanted to donate. Because of the high demand and great outpouring of support in honor of Marion, the Red Cross has scheduled a second drive in his honor on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 2:30-7 p.m. in the parking lot of Buford Street Drugs/Ace Hardware.

Fun activities for children and educational opportunities will be available for everyone. You do not have to be a blood donor to come enjoy the event. The Patton family will be present to say a personal “thank you” to the many people who have supported them through their prayers, acts of kindness, and lifesaving blood donations.

All donors and participants will be given ice cream sandwiches and popsicles provided by Wishes Family Travel, a Red Cross T-shirt, and the opportunity to leave an encouraging message for the Patton family.

Everyone is encouraged to make a donation appointment. Call the Cherokee County Service Center, (864) 489-6066, if you have any questions regarding your eligibility to donate blood, or to make an appointment to donate blood at this drive on Aug. 3 to honor Marion Patton.
