The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Monday afternoon on Leadmine Street.
According to a police report, a 20-year-old West Birnie Street man was walking in the 200 block when a black-colored Pontiac Bonneville approached and a man sitting in the passenger seat fired four or five gunshots at him before the car sped away.
No injuries were reported.
Police said they recovered one .380-caliber shell casing from the roadside.
The names of the driver and passenger in the car were provided to police but no arrests had been reported as of Thursday.
The Gaffney Police Department reported damage to two parked vehicles that were struck by gunfire on Hetty Hill Street.
According to a police report, a Chevrolet pickup and a Kia sport utility vehicle parked in the 400 block were both struck by gunfire some time between 9 p.m. Aug. 1 and noon Aug. 2.
One bullet struck the pickup in the rear window and traveled through the driver’s seat before exiting through the windshield. The Kia SUV was struck in the rear quarter panel.
Police recovered two .22 caliber shell casings and a bullet fragment.
More than $150,000 in construction equipment and tires were reported stolen from two sites on Union Highway between Aug. 3 and Aug. 4.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, one incident occurred at a construction site in the 5000 block where someone took a Tow Master trailer and a Ditch Witch JT1270 boring system owned by Cable Services Plus, of Indian Trail, N.C.
The theft of the equipment, valued at a combined $148,000, occurred between 7 a.m. Aug. 3 and 10 a.m. Aug. 4.
Not far away, someone also took four tires from a Ditch Witch owned by Anscot Associates of Charlotte, N.C., that was parked on the side of the roadway in the 3900 block. The tires, valued at $3,800, were stolen some time between 8 p.m. Aug. 3 and 8 a.m. Aug 4., according to a report.
More than $10,000 in theft and damage losses were reported after several break-ins were discovered at a Peachoid Road business.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to several units at Spartan Homes in the 400 block between 6 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4:44 a.m. Aug 4.
The thief or thieves took a 40-inch Toshiba television, three General Electric refrigerators, a General Electric washer, a General Electric dryer, a coffee table and two end tables.
Theft losses are estimated at $8,900 while damage is estimated at $1,500.
