Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to decide races in three school board districts as well as a pair of municipal council contests.

All three Cherokee County School Board incumbents whose terms expire this year face challenges. District 1 trustee Mike Ellis is being challenged by Alex Copeland and Michael Nix while in District 5, Ron Garner is seeking to unseat Amanda Knowles. In District 7, Lindley Auton is being challenged by Dr. Marcia Duncan and Alan McEntire.

In the race for Gaffney City Council’s District 3 seat, incumbent Bernard Smith faces a challenge from Cornelius Smith, whom the incumbent beat by only two votes in a previous showdown.

In Blacksburg Town Council’s District 1, challenger Suzanne Patterson is attempting to unseat Joe Ross.

The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
