Carson R. Watson

SUMTER – Carson Reese Watson, 14, lost his battle with Diamond Black Fan Anemia after complications from a bone marrow transplant on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of James Daniel and Angela Hambright Watson. Carson enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing XBOX and swimming. He was a rising freshman at Sumter High School and attended Alice Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, James Ross Watson; a sister, Sutton Danielle Watson; paternal grandmother, Patricia Watson Longberry of Sumter; maternal grandparents, George and Wanda Martin of Blacksburg; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, retired Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Daniel Watson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Quinton Watson, Keeler Watson, Trevor Felkel, Hunter Felkel, Josh Kisamore and Mike Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Barnwell, William Shrieber, Cody Hurt, Josh McCall, Nolen Williams, Chandler Sims, Noah Bruenning and Chandler Shipes.

Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 726C Lowdnes Hill Road, Greenville, SC 29607; or to the Palmetto Health Richland Cancer Center, 3209 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203-6930.

The family is at the home, 880 Gordonia Drive.

Donnie Mullinax

Donnie “Bubba” Jay Mullinax, 55, of 124 Lakewood Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late James Everette Mullinax and Martha Marlar Mullinax. Mr. Mullinax was a landscaper and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna Paige Millen and husband, Tony, of Gaffney; a brother, Ricky Mullinax and wife, Lisa, of Gaffney; a sister, Kathy McCraw and husband, Lizard, of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Kayla Sellars, Kennedy Sellars and Klein Millen; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 9, from 3-4 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the church with Dr. Ed McAbee and Dr. Larry Melton officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Ricky and Lisa Mullinax, 107 Sheraton Loop.
