Nan Buckner
BLACKSBURG – Nanola "Nan" Wilkerson Buckner, 81, of 201 E. Ramseur Drive, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Hickory Grove, Mrs. Buckner was the widow of Johnnie James "Buck" Buckner and daughter of the late Samuel Hunt and Margaret Irma Hood Wilkerson. She worked as a bookkeeper for Wendell Fabrics and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.
Surviving Mrs. Buckner are a son, Mark Buckner and wife, Lisa, of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Pam Buckner Holmes and husband, Todd, of Fairfax, Va.; three grandsons, Travis Holmes and wife, Bailey, of Charlotte, Troy Holmes of Fairfax, Va., and Evan Buckner of Woodstock, Ga.; a granddaughter, Alyx Buckner of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Phil Wilkerson and wife, Doris, of Blacksburg; and a sister, Eleanor Ashe and husband, Marion, of Greenville.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Buckner was preceded in death by a brother, Carlisle Wilkerson; and a sister, Sara Beth "Beppy" Landreth.
Visitation was Monday, Aug. 16, from 10-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. Services immediately followed at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Scott Hammett officiating. Interment was in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
