Rescue workers negotiate some difficult terrain as they transport a North Carolina woman from an accident scene for medical treatment. A North Carolina woman was injured Saturday afternoon when her vehicle veered off a curb and down an embankment along Old Post Road.

Jessica Hall, 24, of Boiling Springs, N.C., was taken by ambulance to Upstate Carolina Medical Center after her Ford Escort went off the county roadway and approximately 100 feet into a creek and vegetation nearby shortly before 4 p.m.

Members of the Grassy Pond Fire Department were first to respond to the accident, with the S.C. Highway Patrol and Upstate Carolina Medical Center arriving at the scene a short time later.

According to Grassy Pond Fire Chief Nathan “Junior” Ellis, the woman complained of severe neck and back discomfort. However, the victim’s brother said the woman was responsive and in stable condition.

“She’s just in a bit of pain, she’s going to be all right,” J.D. Hall said.

The accident congested traffic along the well-traveled thoroughfare for nearly 30 minutes while emergency personnel worked to free the woman from the vehicle.

Hall was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
