SHELBY – Chester

Sid” White, 83, of 5006 Pecan Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, he was born May 18, 1927, and was the son of the late John White and Mattie Guffrey Powell. He retired from Ellis Lumber Company after 30 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ettress Ledbetter White; a son, Kenneth White; three sisters, Mary Denton, Essie Pruiett and Florence White; and four brothers Alton White, Charlie, Richard, and Roland Powell.

He is survived by his sons, Jimmy White and wife, Anita, of Shelby, David White and fiancée, Tiffany, of Kings Mountain, Charles White and wife, Sandra, of Gaffney, Morris White of Shelby and Shannon White of the home; five daughters, Imogene Glenn of Shelby, Annette Sarratt and husband, Ronnie, of Cliffside, Nancy Kennedy and husband, Ron, Carolyn White, and Cathy White, all of Shelby; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Queen. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home.
