Virginia Parker
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Stewart Parker, 85, formerly of 807 W. Lime St., passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Peachtree Centre in Gaffney.
Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Parker was the widow of Howard H. Parker and daughter of the late Marvin Gilard and Veda McSwain Stewart. Mrs. Parker retired as a cafeteria worker in Blacksburg after 20 years, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron, and was a member of Broad River Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parker is survived by three daughters, Darlene Edwards and husband, Don, of Shelby, Jackie McPherson and husband, John, of Gaffney, and Denise Nicholson of Gaffney; three sons, Kenny Parker and wife, Jane, of Gaffney, Larry Parker and wife, Susan, of Gaffney, and Gerald Parker and wife, Evelyn, of Blacksburg; a sister, Elizabeth Pennington of Blacksburg; 13 grandchildren and numerous greatand great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.
Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church with the Revs. Norman Philbeck and Paul Fulton officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
