Beth R. Potter

Elizabeth “Beth” Rochester Potter, 45, of 800 College Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at her residence.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the wife of Darrell E. Potter and daughter of Danny M. Rochester and Elizabeth Crocker Rochester of Gaffney. Mrs. Potter retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a graduate of Spartanburg Day School and Limestone College and was a recipient of the Winnie Davis History Award. She attended First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a brother, Danny (Marc) Rochester Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Gaffney; two sisters, Diana McCray and husband, Jim, of Durham, N.C., and Julie Wooten and husband, Greg, of Scotland; and a nephew, Jacob Worth McCray.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Joel Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
