Virginia Owens Anthony, 83, formerly of 476 Corinth Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of Daniel William Anthony Sr. and daughter of the late Marion Owens and Eunice Harbin Owens. She was retired from United Cities Gas Company and a member of Park Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Daniel William Anthony Jr. and wife, Carol, of Blacksburg; two daughters, Diane Parker and husband, John, and Doris Blackwell and husband, Kenneth Dale, all of Gaffney; a sister, Barbara Jean Parker of Shelby; five grandchildren, Johnny Parker Jr. and wife, Windy, Scott Parker and wife, Sheila, Bridgett Bratton and husband, David, Crystal Blackwell, and William Howard Anthony and wife, Michelle; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Elizabeth Bright of Gaffney.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Emmanuel Owens.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 4, from 10-11 a.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sanders and Dr. Dwight Easler officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
