Interim superintendent Dr. Ed Taylor announced a reassignment Friday for directors Kim Bagwell and Page McCraw in the district office.

Bagwell has been named director of curriculum and instruction. McCraw was named personnel director. Both changes are effective immediately.

“The school board of trustees and district administration appreciates the dedication and commitment of these outstanding individuals and is confident each will succeed in their new assignments,” Taylor said in a statement released Friday.

McCraw has been the director of secondary education in the district office for the past four years. She is the former director of Cherokee Technology Center and has more than 20 years experience as a teacher and school administrator in Cherokee County.

During her 26 years in the district, Bagwell has worked as elementary education coordinator in the district office and served as a principal specialist in multiple county schools. She had served as interim superintendent for the past five months until the school board decided two weeks ago to bring in a retired superintendent on an interim basis.

Taylor was named interim superintendent by the school board on Aug. 30. The retired Laurens superintendent will officially begin his duties in Cherokee County on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Taylor will work on a month-to-month, full-time basis until the school board hires a permanent superintendent, Cherokee County School Board Chairman Donnie Lee Smith said. The school board plans to begin its superintendent search within the next month and hopes to hire a new, permanent superintendent before July of 2011.
