City council meets Tuesday

Gaffney City Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers.

At that time, council is expected to approve second reading on an ordinance to finance a leasepurchase agreement for two used fire trucks. Council also is expected to hear a report from administrator James Taylor on submitting an application for a planning grant from the state Department of Commerce as well as adopting a resolution in support of a local match for the community development block grant (CDBG) village renaissance project.

In other matters, council will consider a petition to install speed bumps on Cypress Drive and a report from the Street Committee concerning a request to abandon an alley near East Fairview Avenue.
