School board committee assignments have been made by board chairman Donnie Lee Smith.

Smith will chair the personnel committee which traditionally consists of school board officers. Committee members include vice chairman Ron Garner, secretary Willie Crosby and Billy Blackwell.

Smith will be an exofficio member of all committees. He will serve as the school board legislative contact.

Garner will chair the school board’s budget committee. He will be joined by Alan McEntire, Barry Bailey and Cheryll Smith.

The school board’s maintenance, property and grounds committee will be chaired by Barry Bailey. Committee members are Mike Ellis, McEntire and Blackwell.

Ellis will chair the special needs committee. The other committee members are Cheryll Smith, Robin Duncan Harper, and Garner.

Harper is the chairperson of the school board’s curriculum committee. She will be joined on the committee by Cheryll Smith, Blackwell and Ellis.

In a press release Tuesday afternoon, Donnie Smith said he hopes the school board and community will work together to focus on providing a good education for students.
