Mercy, 5-0
Sophomore midfielder Sara Parker scored a pair of goals and sophomore attack Skylar Marcoux and sophomore midfielder Kendra Sutherland each notched a pair of assists to help lead Limestone College (1-0-0) to the first victory in field hockey program history, a 5-0 decision over Mercy College (0-1-0) on Saturday.
Saints rally
falls short
The comeback bid by the Limestone College men's soccer team came up short tonight, September 4, as they dropped a 3-2 decision at regional powerhouse Wingate University.
The Saints, forced to play shorthanded in the second half, had opportunities to erase a 2-1 halftime deficit as they outshot the Bulldogs 7-6 in the last 45 minutes.
However, they were not able to capitalize on the momentum gained by a late goal as the potential tying shot sailed high with under four minutes to play. With the loss, Limestone drops to 1-1 on the year while the Bulldogs improve to 2-0.
Limestone nets
3-0 victory
Junior outside hitter Jordan Preville drilled 11 kills and freshman libero Rebecca Kerrison had 10 digs as Limestone College (2-2, 0-0) swept Winston-Salem State (0-4, 0-0) by a 3-0 score in the finale of the Limestone Labor Day Invitational on Saturday. The Saints pulled out a 25-22 Game 1 victory before notching 25-19 and 25-20 wins in the final two sets.
