TUESDAY ACCIDENT — Two people were taken to hospitals following a 2-vehicle wreck at Wilkinsville Highway and East Junior High Road on Tuesday afternoon. Details of the wreck were not immediately available from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, which responded. The 78- year-old driver of one vehicle was flown by helicopter to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from an emergency landing zone set up in the parking lot of nearby John E. Ewing Middle School. The driver of the other vehicle was taken by ambulance to Upstate Carolina Medical Center. The wreck, which occurred at about 4:30 p.m., temporarily blocked traffic on Wilkinsville Highway while police, paramedics and firefighters did their work. (Ledger photo / TIM GULLA)
