Several manhole covers from a Blacksburg industrial site were reported stolen Sept. 2.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone took several manhole covers from a property in the 200 block of Henson Road, between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Police did not say exactly how many covers were taken or how much they were worth.
Nearly $1,000 in property was reported stolen following the discovery of a break-in of a vacant home on Pacolet Highway in the area of Goucher School Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone entered the property between June 1 and Sept. 1 and took a refrigerator and a furnace.
The property owners were to provide police with a list of anything else that was missing following an inventory.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office previously reported three separate break-ins of storage buildings on Goucher School Road last weekend.
A vandal targeted a West Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane business recently.
Between 11 a.m. Aug. 21 and 8 a.m. Aug. 23, someone cut all the phone lines at L&L Realty, according to the Gaffney Police Department.
About $150 in damage was reported after an attempted break-in was discovered on Corinth Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone tried to force entry to a home in the 2200 block between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 2. Police said the burglar(s) caused a crack in the door but did not make entry to the home.
A Gaffney Police Department officer stopped the same vehicle twice on Sept. 6 and ended up making two arrests for driving without a license.
According to a police report, the officer observed a silver Dodge Caravan with a Texas license plate attempt to avoid a public safety checkpoint at Providence Road and 3rd Street at 10:38 a.m. The officer ended up arresting a 22- year-old man for driving without a license and the mini-van was turned over to a licensed driver, according to the report.
About five hours later, the same officer pulled over the same mini-van and arrested a 30-year-old woman for driving without a license, according to a second report. That traffic stop also occurred in the area of Providence and 3rd Street, this time at 3:29 p.m.
A man stole $20 worth of condoms from the Walgreen’s pharmacy early on Sept. 5.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, a man walked into the pharmacy at about 2:50 a.m. and picked up a box of condoms. The man subsequently opened the box, took the condoms and then left without paying. The man got into a vehicle with a license plate number that police were able to trace to a resident of Barclay Avenue.
A vehicle was vandalized on Songbird Lane.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone shattered the back glass window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block between 3 a.m. Sept. 4 and 6 p.m. Sept. 6. Damage was estimated at $300.
A $900 camera was reported stolen following a vehicle break-in on East Rutledge Avenue.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone entered a vehicle parked in the 400 block between 10 p.m. Sept. 3 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 4 and took a black camera case containing a Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera.
A woman’s purse was stolen during a vehicle break-in outside an Old Georgia Highway bar.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone broke out a side window on a Jeep Cherokee parked outside of O’Henry’s, 1547 Old Georgia Highway, between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. and took a purse containing a cell phone, credit card and bank card. Theft and damage losses are estimated at $320.
A Garmin satellite navigation unit was stolen from a pickup truck parked on Filter Plant Road.
The theft occurred in the 500 block between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sept. 6, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
A mailbox in the 100 block of Filter Plant Road was demolished Sept. 4 when it was run over by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle didn’t stick around, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff‘s Office, but did leave behind a mirror that was broken from the vehicle. The mailbox is valued at $30.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the burglary of an Old Georgia Highway home.
According to a report, someone entered a home in the 4800 block between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Sept. 6 and took a 12- gauge shotgun valued at $200.
A vehicle stolen out of Kannapolis, N.C., was found on Byers Circle in Blacksburg.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the 2000 Honda Civic was completely stripped of parts at about 8 a.m. Sept. 6.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office took into safekeeping a grave marker that was left behind a Little Hope Road, Blacksburg, home.
According to a police report, a bronze in color grave marker was found Sept. 4 behind a home in the 400 block. There was no immediate word about the origin of the grave marker, valued at $300.
