USC, Georgia
await ruling
Georgia coach Mark Richt and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier don't yet know if they'll have benched starters for each side back when they open Southeastern Conference play this week.
Each school has dealt with NCAA inquiries this summer that left key performers on the sidelines last week.
The 22nd-ranked Bulldogs sat star receiver A.J. Green in a 55-7 victory over Louisiana- Lafayette last Saturday. No. 24 South Carolina held out starting left tackle Jarriel King and cornerback Chris Culliver from its 41-13 win against Southern Miss this past Thursday night.
South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders remains suspended for violating team rules.
Both coaches say they hope to know something before Saturday's noon kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium.
