Quinshad Davis Quinshad Davis Gaffney wide receiver Quinshad Davis has likely made the greatest strides on the team this year.

And Clemson has already taken notice.

Davis was in attendance for Clemson’s season opener Saturday against North Texas State. Although the Tigers have expressed a strong interest in Davis, the junior left the visit without a scholarship offer.

The Tigers do have a strong tie to the Indians as Clemson assistant coach Billy Napier is a former college teammate of Gaffney offensive coordinator Donnie Littlejohn.

Howevcr, the Tigers do have a glut of wideouts competing for playing time, including former Gaffney High star Joe Craig.

If a scholarship opens up, Davis likely will get an offer.

Davis, who has already qualified academically for college, also has received letters from Duke and Princeton.

Through threee games, Davis leads the team with 22 catches for 333 yards and three touchdowns.

As for his throwing mate, quarterback DeEdward Burris is attracting interest from Appalachian State and Cincinnati. Both schools are recruiting him as an athlete and not necessarily as a quarterback.

Burris, who has yet to qualify academically for college, is enjoying a superb season, completing 47 of his 72 passes for a 65 percent completion rate. He has thrown for five touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also leads the team in rushing with 217 yards on 45 carries.
