Frances Scruggs

Frances Mullinax Scruggs, 70, of 304 Adams St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Heyward Scruggs and daughter of the late Lokie Mullinax and Louise Lanier Mullinax. Mrs. Scruggs was a homemaker, loved her family, flowers and yard work. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Clayton Scruggs of the home; two daughters, Leslie Brock and Cheryl Barker and husband, Jim, all of Gaffney; two brothers, Garland Mullinax and wife, Doris, and Leonard Mullinax and wife, Georgia, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Fannie Garland and Lorene Fletcher, both of Gaffney; five grandchildren, April Barnhill, Alena Brock, Trey Brock, Devin Munsey and Alyssa Munsey; one great-grandchild, Carter Barnhill; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she cared for and loved.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Munsey; three brothers, Jack Mullinax, D. B. Mullinax and Lightning Mullinax; and three sisters, Mary Jane Thompson, Marie Hadden and Carolyn Sellars.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at Blakely Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lewis Batchelor officiating. Interment will be in Mount Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
