Competition Saturday evening in GHS Auditorium
Thirty-nine young women from the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes at Gaffney Senior High School will compete in the 2012 Miss Cherokeean pageant Saturday, Feb. 4, in GHS Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and competition gets underway at 6:30. All tickets are $5 cash and will be sold in advance today, Feb. 3, until 3 p.m. in the GHS auditorium. If all tickets are sold today, none will be available at the door Saturday. Those holding tickets will be admitted before those purchasing tickets at the door. Seating is general admission; there are no reserved seats.
Themed “Hollywood Nights,” the pageant will feature music from iconic movies. Entertainment will feature performances by GHS senior Taylor Fipps, singing with Midnight Fire, a band composed of GHS students Mike Davidson, Trey Jones and Drew Spencer. GHS junior Natalie Southgate will dance.
The contestants were selected by votes of their classmates. Each class will have a class beauty and the senior with the highest score will be crowned the 2012 Miss Cherokeean. Contestants will be judged in three categories – interview with the judges, casual wear and formal wear.
Kaylin Childers Pageant proceeds will go to fund publications of the yearbook, The Cherokeean, and the school newspaper, The Indian Post.
