Gospel singing ffi There will be a gospel singing Saturday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. at Freedom, 820 Bill Lattimore Road, Chesnee. Featured singers will be the Orchard Street Choir fromOrchard Street Baptist Church in Chesnee.

Senior Center news ffi The Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., will be the IRS site for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Anyone whose total gross income is $50,000 or less and has a "simple" return can take advantage of this program. Taxes are prepared every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. by appointment only. To make an appointment and/or obtain more information, call the Senior Center at 864-489- 3868 or 864-487-2726.

Fund raisers

ffi North East Fellowship Church of God, 500 Whelchel Road, is having a yard sale Saturday, Feb. 4, beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing until. The sale will be indoors if rain. Sausage biscuits will be sold from 7 a.m. and vegetable soup from 11 a.m. Proceeds will go the church's youth group. ffi Dover Baptist Church, 1501 Polkville Road, Shelby, will have a chicken pie supper Saturday, Feb. 4, from 5-7 p.m. Eat-in or take-out. ffi The Antioch Community Center, located on Antioch Church Road, north of Blacksburg off Hwy. 29, will have its annual chicken stew on Saturday, Feb. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. Hot dogs, desserts and drinks will also be sold. Eat-in or

carry-out. Serving begins at 11 a.m. ffi Sisters and Brothers Committed to the Community will have a fish fry and chicken wings sale today, Feb. 3, until 4 p.m.

ffi Buford Street United Methodist Church will sponsor a soup lunch each Monday in February from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The menu includes soup (choice of three), cornbread,

dessert, tea or water for $6. Lunch will be served in the Family Life Center and you can eat-in or take out. Proceeds will benefit the FLC and AC fund.

Auditions ffi Gaffney Little Theatre is holding an open casting call for the classic fairytale "Cinderella." Roles are available for grades 5 and up along with roles for adults. Auditions will take place Monday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Little Theatre, 131 E. Robinson St. No prepared monologues are needed, just a great speaking voice and big smiles. Show dates are March 29-31 and rehearsal will begin Feb 9.

Voter registration ffi The GHS Kappa League, in conjunction with the Gaffney Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternitywill be conducting a voter registration drive today during the Gaffney vs. Clover basketball games. If you are a U.S. citizen and will be 18 years or older by Nov. 5, 2012, come to the atrium area to register.

Meeting ffi Democratic Women will meet Monday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. at Harvey's Diner, 1553 N. Limestone St. Guest speaker will be Olin Huffman, Cherokee County Democratic Party chairman. Election procedures will be discussed. ffi The Cherokee County Republican Women will meet Monday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. in the private dining room at Stephenson Hall at Limestone College. Oscar Fuller, a consultant with Cherokee 2020, will present the group's findings on education and other matters concerning

Cherokee County. Shellie Wylie and her daughter, Grace, will give a short presentation on Girl Scout Cookies. The public is invited.
