Svetlana V. Drachova- Strang of Gaffney, who graduated with a Doctorate in Computer Science

Christopher Thomas Lemaster Jr. of Gaffney, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Sciences

Christopher Dale Pettit of Gaffney, who graduated with a Master of City and Regional Planning in City and Regional Planning

Donovan Vance Propst of Gaffney, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management (Operations Management Emphasis )

Lana Brooke Ward of Gaffney, who graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences

They were among 3,053 students who received degrees at three commencement ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum. l Coastal Carolina University has released names of students who earned the Dean’s List status for the Spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.

Valerie Hamrick of Gaffney, a senior Biology major l More than 700 students recently graduated during Gardner-Webb University’s 2013 spring commencement exercises. Graduates from the local region included the following:

Tamara Whelchel of Blacksburg, who graduated with a MA degree in Elementary Education.

Megan Anderson of Gaffney, who graduated with a MA degree in English.

Leslie Ellis of Gaffney, who graduated with a MA degree in Elementary Education.

Krystel Hannon of Gaffney, who graduated with a AS degree in Nursing .

Anna Hulsey of Gaffney, SC, who graduated with a BA degree in Discipleship Studies.

Richard Levesque of Gaffney, who graduated with a MAC degree in Accounting.

Adam Moore of Gaffney, who graduated with a AS degree in Nursing .

Victoria Foster of Pacolet, who graduated with a MSN degree in Nursing. l Gardner-Webb University is pleased to announce that the following students from this region made the Dean’s List for the Spring 2013 semester. The Dean’s List is the semester’s highest academic honor, recognizing only those students who maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 or better.

Christopher Scott Pettus of Gaffney - History l Levor Centel Ross of Gaffney graduated from the University of San Diego on May 26.

Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. l Timothy Denard Smith was recently honored for outstanding academic achievement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

During the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year, Smith earned one of the college’s top academic honors - a Gold Star. Gold Star honors are presented to students who achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher during a semester’s course work. Students that achieve Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s Dean’s List.

While at The Citadel, Smith was a member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and seeking a BS in Civil Engineering. l David A. Wright received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in English on May 11, 2013, from the University of South Carolina.

A 2001 graduate of Blacksburg High School, Wright received his B.A. from Furman University and his M.F.A. from USC. He is employed by Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville.

Wright is married and has a daughter. He and his family reside in Traveler’s Rest. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright of Blacksburg and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allen.
