DRIVER WALKS AWAY FROM I-85 CRASH

A man was able to walk away from a Saturday afternoon accident in which his vehicle rolled over several times on Interstate 85 in Gaffney.

The cause of the incident, which occurred shortly before 2:50 p.m., wasn’t immediately clear. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to investigate.

Acting Gaffney Fire Department Capt. Doug Bowers said the driver of the vehicle, a college student from Georgia, was already out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived.

The man didn’t appear to suffer any injuries but was taken to Mary Black Health System — Gaffney to be checked out.

The incident occurred near the 92 Mile Marker of Interstate 85 North. Firefighters believed the man’s vehicle rolled four to five times before coming to rest on the side of the highway.
